MAC users
If you use a MAC computer there are several thing you can do to run the software that is used within the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
You can use:
1.GENIE (please follow the link on that page that says “MAC OS”
2. Install vmware fusion (free via VMAP) and then install windows 7 (free via MSDNAA)
- Please send an email to help@eng.fau.edu and ask for a VMAP account. Please send this email using your FAU account only outside @fau.edu requests can not be handled for this
- You should already have an MSNAA (Free Microsfot software) account as it’s generated at the beginning of the semester and emailed to you, however, if not please email help@eng.fau.edu and ask for a MSDNAA account. Please send this email using your FAU account only outside @fau.edu requests can not be handled for this
- Please follow this link for detailed instructions on installing VMWARE fusion.
- Please goto the website engvcba.eng.fau.edu
- It will show you options to install based on your OS,
- please choose the View Client (do not select the one that says View Client Local mode)
- Once that is installed if you run vmware view client it will ask for a server to connect to:
- Please use engvcba.eng.fau.edu
- Log in with your username and password
- once logged in you will be presented with the pool of computers you are allowed to view, please pick the most appropriate choice
- CEECS (for Computer , Electrical Engineering and Computer Science)
- OME-LAB (for Ocean and Mechchinal Engineering)
- CEGE-LAB (for Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering)
- There may be another more appropriate pool choice for specific software
